It's fun and effective, using interval training combining fast and slow rhythms for an effective aerobic workout while at the same time targeting your legs, abs, glutes and arms. The workout is watch and follow. The moves are repeated often enough for you to catch on and they're not complicated. The routines are repeated week after week with additions every now and then to spice things up even more! Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be 'FUN AND EASY TO DO' for Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba fitness program to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is not only great for the body, but it is also great for the mind!

Mark Pillow and Volunteer of the Year Awards Nominations Due

The Mark Pillow Community Spirit Award was created in 2006 by the Common Area Committee in memory of our neighbor, Mark Pillow, who died in December 2005. Mark embodied the spirit of Cameron Station and made it a better, brighter place to live. The award is presented each year to a resident who has made a lasting impact on the welfare and spirit of our community, exemplifying Mark’s special volunteerism.  The Volunteer of the Year Award was instituted in 2016 to recognize residents who have had a significant, positive impact on our community by volunteering their time and service.

StepALIVE Walkathon 2024

On Sunday, October 20, 2024, join your neighbors in a 5-kilometer or 5-mile walk through Old Town to raise funds for ALIVE!, the largest private safety net in the City of Alexandria dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. Kickoff is 2:00 pm at First Christian Church of Alexandria, 2723 King Street, where there will also be a post-walk celebration with food, live music, and a raffle.

Prizes will be given to the teams which have the largest number of registered team members and which raise the most money. “The Cameron Station Striders” won that award last year and we want to do it again! Yoga II

Yoga classes appropriate for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice. The approach includes carefully orchestrated movements, controlled pressure, and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Postures may be approached in gradual steps, with plenty of time to focus on breathing and repetition so that the practice is simple to do and easy to remember. This yoga style encourages a highly individualized approach to practice with on-going encouragement to make moment-to-moment adjustments.
