At the February 2025 Cameron Station Community Association Board Meeting, the Civic Association provided updates on several key projects that impact our neighborhood. From bikeshare station placement to citywide development plans, we are working to advocate for the best interests of our community. A much more detailed written update on these matters can be found as part of the board packet at: https://www.cameronstation.org/pdf/CSCA_-_BOD_Meeting_Package_-_Tuesday_February_25_2025.pdf. Here’s what we’re focused on this month:
Ben Brenman Bikeshare Station
The Civic Association continues advocating for the bikeshare station to be moved from the street (Ben Brenman Drive) to a safer location on the grassy area near the park’s restrooms. After reaching out to the City Manager in January, we followed up again on February 19, 2025, for an update. We remain committed to ensuring a safe and logical placement of the bikeshare station that does not impede traffic flow.

Duke Street Land Use Plan
The Civic Association is monitoring the City’s redevelopment plans along Duke Street to ensure they do not negatively impact traffic and density near Cameron Station. The City recently launched its official website for the Duke Street Plan and has confirmed that the planning process will begin in Spring-Summer 2025. In the meantime, City staff continue hosting listening sessions and community meetings to gather feedback. We encourage residents to stay informed and engaged.

Housing 2040 Master Plan
The Civic Association is closely watching the Housing 2040 Master Plan and its potential effects on our community, including zoning changes, parking requirements, and density increases. The City has divided the plan into two phases, with Phase 1 aiming for a December 2025 public hearing. The next community meeting on Housing 2040 will take place on March 18 at 7:00 PM at Patrick Henry K-8 School. We encourage residents to attend and share their thoughts on this important initiative.
