Have you ever opened your pantry and thought, “Why did I buy this?” Maybe it was that extra can of beans, the cereal you no longer eat, or the pasta you swore you’d try. We’ve all been there. Now imagine if those items could make their way to a neighbor who could actually use them. That’s exactly what the Cameron Station Give & Take Pantry is all about.
The pantry table, located in the Cameron Club lobby by the Victoria Room, is open to everyone to give and to take. You can drop off unopened, unexpired, non-perishable items like canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, or snacks. And, if you see something you could use, take it - donations are not required. This is about reducing waste and sharing what we already have, together as neighbors.
What about that opened extra-large bag of flour you know you’ll never finish before the expiration date, or the snack mix you tried once and didn’t love? Maybe you’re heading out of town and have a half gallon of milk or a few tomatoes that will go bad before you’re back home. While the Give & Take Pantry is just for unopened, non-perishable foods, consider sharing other items more personally. Drop a note to a neighbor, knock on a friend’s door, or call someone who might be able to use them. It’s a simple way to keep food from going to waste and a great reminder of what makes our community special.
Give & Take Pantry - Day1 Donations
Items that remain on the table for an extended period will be donated to ALIVE! Food Bank, Alexandria’s largest food assistance program, so that nothing goes to waste and every item finds its way to someone who needs it.
The Give & Take Pantry is open during Cameron Club hours, now through January 2, 2026. If you need assistance bringing items to the Clubhouse or would like to help with donations, email cameronstationcares@gmail.com.
Together, we can share what we have, reduce waste, and make a positive difference right here at home.
