A Story of Love and Compassion

Blue and Coral Happy Hour Flyer

Many of you know our neighbor, Linda Taousakis. Or even if you don’t know her personally, you have probably benefited from the many good things she has been doing for our community since she moved to Cameron Station in 2007.

Linda is an artist, a designer, a photographer, a piano teacher, and volunteer extraordinaire for a number of HOA Committees. From day one, she has thrown herself into the life of our neighborhood, offering her skills and assistance with multiple community projects and helping to enrich Cameron Station in so many ways.

Linda’s current project, however, extends beyond Cameron Station…to the National Institutes of Health (NIH); and more specifically, to The Children’s Inn at NIH.

As a mother and now grandmother, Linda has worked hard all her life for the well-being of children. Whether teaching them music, or how to draw and paint, her passion and love of art has helped children of all ages and circumstances hone their creative abilities and enrich their lives.

For the past 12 years, Linda has helped brighten the lives of the residents of The Children’s Inn – children, teens, and young adults who are facing rare and serious diseases and are participating in life-changing clinical research studies.  In addition to sharing her talents with them in person, Linda has also raised thousands of dollars for The Inn through her philanthropic activities, including the sale of her own paintings. But Linda wanted to do even more, and now has one more accomplishment to add to her growing list: she is an author.

Linda has written a heartwarming children’s book entitled My Dog a Day that is based on her own childhood adventures. It follows a family on their quest to find the perfect four-legged companion, an extraordinary canine that captures their hearts.

Linda has directed that all the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to The Children’s Inn. She explains that, “My Dog a Day is not just a story; it’s a tale of love and compassion. Every purchase helps support groundbreaking pediatric research, and makes a real impact on those courageous young people in need.”

Pat Sugrue is an original owner, moving to Cameron Station with her husband Tom in the fall of 1999. She was a member of the first Compass Crew, and later served as Editor-in-Chief for nine years. Pat’s professional career was in advertising – 30+ years in ad agencies in every department except art (no talent at all!); but her favorite position was copywriter, which she felt made a good fit for The Compass. She warns that she is here to stay, regardless of the format!
