This year, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, also known as Chamber ALX, proudly recognized fellow Cameron Station resident, Mindy Lyle, as one of Alexandria’s distinguished 40 Over 40 Honorees. This inaugural award celebrates 40 individuals aged 40 and above who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, service, and impact within the community.
With over 30 years of experience in business development, communications, and marketing strategies, Mindy has continually pushed boundaries, uplifted others, and left a lasting impact on the City of Alexandria. Whether through professional accomplishments, civic involvement, or volunteer efforts, she embodies the core values of commitment, innovation, and community spirit that this award was designed to highlight.
“I deeply appreciate the recognition, but it won’t change how I act or what I do,” Mindy said. “It’s a reminder that I’ll keep doing things the same way I always have.”
Since moving to Cameron Station in 2000, Mindy has been deeply engaged in the West End’s development and its role in shaping Alexandria’s future. From helping design the first Landmark/Van Dorn Master Plan to directing nine Small Area Plans, such as the Waterfront Master Plan, she played a key role in guiding the city’s development. Her decade of service on the Alexandria Planning Commission has contributed to thoughtful, sustainable development that will benefit residents for generations to come.
Beyond the build environment, Mindy is a passionate advocate for underserved families, supporting organizations such as Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue and the Samuel Tucker Adopt-a-Family program.
Raised in a politically active family in South Louisiana, Mindy was inspired by her parents to get involved in public service. Today, she is an enthusiastic mentor and advocate, eager to share her insights and encourage the next generation. Her hope is to see more young people investing in Alexandria’s physical and social landscape by volunteering, joining civic boards, and getting engaged in local projects.
The 40 Over 40 Awards celebration will take place on August 21, 2025, at Freeman in Alexandria. Honorees like Mindy Lyle will be recognized for their ongoing contributions to the city, proving that excellence doesn’t have an expiration date.
Congratulations, Mindy!
