Board Meeting Recap
May 28, 2024
The Cameron Station Community Association Board of Directors (Board) met on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Set out below is a recap of the key actions taken and discussions held at the meeting, which was held by virtual video conference and in-person in the Cameron Club. The meeting was called to order at 6:59 pm and adjourned at 8:41 pm.
- The Board heard from Lt. Lion of the Alexandria Police Department who reported 48 calls for service in May in Cameron Station, including calls at Ben Brenman Park. Approximately 15-20 percent of the calls were parking or traffic related, and there were no quality of life calls.
- The Treasurer reported that Cameron Station is in a good financial position.
- The Board approved two landscaping proposals recommended by the Common Area Committee to (a) create a swale to address certain drainage issues on Medlock Lane and (b) enhance a bare common area between Cameron Station Condominiums and Carlton Place Condominiums where no turf will grow. This will be done by extending the mulch bed and installing stepping stones.
- The Board approved the transfer of $341,000 of excess Owners’ Equity to Reserves.
- The 2023 draft audit was accepted as presented.
- The Board approved the engagement of Goldklang Group CPAs for audit and tax services for 2024 and 2025.
- Signal 88’s bid to provide parking enforcement services for another year was approved.
- Management updated the Board regarding a successful opening of the pool for the summer, the planned paving of Cameron Station Boulevard by the City of Alexandria beginning the week of June 17, and the third (and final) phase of Cameron Station’s paving project to begin in August.
- The Board continued discussions regarding the Black Car Airport Service offered by Cameron Station’s shuttle bus operating company. This will be discussed further at the June meeting.
