The Cameron Station Community Association Board of Directors (Board) met on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Set out below is a recap of the key actions taken and discussions held at the meeting, which was held by virtual video conference and in-person at the Cameron Club. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm and adjourned at 7:50 pm.
- Lt. Lion of the Alexandria Police Department (APD) sent the board a report, which was read at the meeting and reported 73 calls for service in June in Cameron Station, including calls at Ben Brenman Park. Parking and animal related calls were the most frequent and several of the calls related to disorderly conduct in the parks, but there were no quality of life calls.
- The Treasurer reported that Cameron Station remains in a good financial condition.
- The Board approved two gym equipment replacement proposals recommended by the Cameron Club Facilities Committee to acquire (a) three new cross-trainers, and (b) new Matrix Versa Dual leg and lat row machines.
- Management updated the Board regarding: (a) the closing of the Great Room in July for carpet replacement; (b) arrival of the previously approved replacement bench slats to be installed on the benches in the median of Brenman Park Drive; (c) positive feedback received from residents regarding High Sierra Pools; (d) tree trimming to occur in the Linear Park; (e) the status of the City paving project for Cameron Station Boulevard; (f) the final phase of paving for the Community streets with concrete repair to take place in July and asphalt work to begin August 5; and (g) status of the launch of the Black Car airport service app, which is now expected toward the end of July.
- The Board discussed schedules for the remaining Board meetings for the year (reflecting deviations from the standard schedule for November and December) and the key dates and deadlines for the annual meeting for the election of approximately one-half of the Board and nominations for the Mark Pillow and Volunteer of the Year awards.
